Every Friday, @CNNLightYears will suggest interesting and exciting space and science Twitter accounts to follow.

Today, @CNNLightYears is giving a #FollowFriday to a few of our favorite go-to accounts for science news and discoveries.

The National Science Foundation is a federal agency that is the "source for approximately 20% of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities," according to its website. Follow @NSF for discoveries and research initiatives from various types of sciences.

The official Twitter feed for the Science News Blog, @Science tweets interesting space and science news, such as a NOAA finding that a mystery orange goo that washed ashore in Alaska was identified as a mass of microscopic eggs.

Following the New York Academy of Sciences Twitter feed is a great way to find out about scientific lectures, panels, and exhibits happening in NYC, but also a great place to go for interesting information even if you aren't in the city.

The official account for the Science Museum, which is located in London, tweets about its world renowned collection and amazing exhibits.

TweetMeme Science aggregates all the science links on Twitter and determines which links are popular. Follow @TM_Science for the most popular science stories that are being shared.

@digg_sciences shares the top science stories from, a social news website that allows users to surface the best shared stories.
